Intention

Having seen the power of intention, I am compelled to follow the advice of my year-long photography study instructor, Kim Klassen. Set my intention this week for something that will inspire, excite and intrigue me enough to create a photo worthy of the statement, "Oh wow!." Okay so what might that be? I am tempted to say a wonderful portable wood table that extends in height so I can adjust for still life shots. For my small dining room (best light in there). But I cannot help but ponder another truth I have seen with life and stuff...Be open to whatever comes my way. Ask for wisdom to recognize it when it appears before me. And the blessing

While I have messed with photography and printing using a darkroom since my USAF service during Vietnam, I have never been able to focus on it. During the 8 years after my husband died I took up acrylic painting and loved the challenge of it and even learned I can draw. But, sigh, that takes so much time--and continued practice. Got married 3 years ago and my new husband suggested photography for both of us. I knew I could only do one thing well with the time I have available and resisted like crazy because I wanted to paint. Wouldn't even hold the Nikon he bought. Jan 30, 2015 Began this year with a commitment to focus on learning and growing as a photographer. Including applying all the things I have already gathered to read, watch, and practice with. All in preparation for retirement in 3 years. Goal is to build a side business doing what we love and maybe make a couple bucks. First Step: Paid to join Kim Klassen's "Be Still 52" class. This meant money on the line (yikes) and 52 weeks of accountability for achieving small goals. The subject area is still life photography and processing.
